With 30ml retailing for $2,350 and only 1000 of the bottles being released every year the perfume is definitely at the top of the luxury market. Some of the ingredients in the perfume are said to be not sustainable, which means the scent of the perfume does change year after year because of the non-availability of the past years ingredients.

Which makes me think?

What ingredient is not sustainable that it cannot be repeated the next year? Just so that someone can pay an exorbitant amount to smell like a few thousand dollars what natural resource is being wiped off the planet?

What a waste of money and non-sustainable ingredients.

At her Spring Summer 2008 fashion show on Monday Vivienne Westwood made it clear that she is not just a designer but an outspoken citizen as well. Calling her collection “56″, a direct reference to the number of days a terror suspect can be held without charge in Britain, she showed the fashion world that it can be powerful enough to make a statement.

Fashion is always influenced by current world trends, and even political environments. Even though this was not the first time shows have been used to cast those impressions over to the local public, this one makes an even stronger statement than most.

Vivienne Westwood is known for her edgy collections and said that the collection showed her thoughts against Gordon Brown, the British PM, “I’ll be voting against him definitely, anything to get him out,” she said. “He has to go.”

I wonder why nobody has made shows with a tone towards the resentment about the way in Iraq? I wonder if Vivienne agrees with that?

A fashion stylist is a job where you get to give advice and/or execute a certain look for a person. The look can be according to a pre-determined theme for instance, an awards ceremony, a charity dinner or for a socialite event.

Fashion stylists can work in many medias from print publications, film and TV, runway styling or as a personal stylist consulting by appointment. The best place to begin is by educating yourself about the differences between them.

Film and TV is about creating characters.

Print, video and runway is about creating a look for today–what’s happening’ now and for the near future.

Personal styling depends on your clients tastes and what they’re comfortable in, most of the time they don’t know so you need to be a good judge of character along with your sense of style.

Who is a Fashion Stylist?

A stylist is an expert who uses art and science to make people and objects look good in order to make a statement. To become a stylist you must have a passion for the fashion industry and be able to research and understand the latest trends. Having an eye for color and a feel for textiles and garment construction is helpful.

Fashion stylists need to make hard decisions

Envision putting makeup on Angelina Jolie or Heath Ledger for their latest movies, styling Britney Spears comeback tour maybe or giving fashion advice personally to the top socialite in New York City.

Those that will avail of your stylist’s services will admire you for your eye and sense of balance, detail and beauty. Most importantly, they will respect you because you will make them feel beautiful inside and out.

What kind of jobs can I get as a stylist?

Well, more than you can imagine. Here’s a partial list of various professions that require stylists -

Photo Studios

Theater

TV sets

Film sets

Modeling

Advertising Companies

Magazine Publishers

Book Publishers

Fashion Houses

Haute Couture Houses

Music Industry

There are plenty of fashion stylists who make hundreds of dollars a day and more. A step-by-step method to become a stylist could be outlined as below -

Build a portfolio

Work with good photographers

Get signed to an agency and

Set a day rate

Getting your foot in the door

Building a portfolio takes time. It takes about a year to two before you may begin to feel confident that your portfolio can compete with the others. It’s a work in progress. Don’t get discouraged.

Assisting is a great way to learn without the risk of losing a job. It’s an opportunity to get a first hand look at what goes on during a shoot or prior to a ceremony. Assisting can also lead to personal work.

As the public becomes more fashion conscious, simply wearing the right labels is no longer enough. The hair, make-up and accessories are part of the gig and a stylist needs to be an expert in all those things. So if you work in the Film and TV industry and a celebrity goes for an award ceremony they will get in touch with you and start planning weeks before for what they’re going to wear.

Stylists can have tremendous influence over the way the public views fashion. They can develop looks to inspire beauty, creativity or even a specific mood. They can also create sex appeal as well as “shock” appeal simply by wardrobing their client in a certain way.

Being employed as a fashion stylist is often not a full time job, but rather a freelance career. Stylists often develop a client base through word of mouth and work on an “as needed basis” from project to project.

In fashion, a stylist’s role is critical to the success of a photo shoot. The stylist is responsible for assembling the apparel and accessories to be worn by each model. Many stylists even determine the hairstyle and make-up that should be used for a shoot.

Successful stylists often enjoy V.I.P treatment with front row seats at fashion shows including free clothes and flights. You may even get to hang out with the world’s most stylish people; some are celebrities, some are members of royal families and some are “ordinary people” with discriminating tastes.

If you are considering a career as a fashion stylist then your best bet would be to network as much as you can while you’re learning. It’s the contacts that will get you a job, not how much powder you apply to a nose.

The Italian fashion house Versace is slowly moving into the lifestyle sector of the luxury market after having done all they could do in the fashion arena. This doesn’t mean that they will be leaving fashion completely, the Versace brand will just be seen on more than just jeans and perfume now. Expect to also see the leather interiors of your Lamborghini embalmed with the Versace logo.

Presented at the Paris International Autoshow, the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 Versace is a modified version of the LP640 Coupé. It features custom Versace leather seating and a Gianni Versace logo plaque inside the vehicle. Not cool enough? OK, how about a Versace designed cabin for your helicopter?

This is the kind of diversity that the Italian brand is leveraging itself into, the area of a luxury lifestyle. With a lot of the fashion industry going more for selling features rather than big funky looking runway shows, designers now also have to be careful about final season end sales numbers.

In the end it makes good business sense to make sure that your company is profitable from selling the seasons collections and not pumping hundreds of thousands of dollars into haute couture shows. Only to just unleash all that creativity into designing for custom orders and of course super expensive luxury goods for those who have no qualms in spending money on it.

Simply hook the bra straps together and place each cup around the end of the inner shell.

Then – Tuck the straps inside the shell

And snap the outer shell around the bra!

With its unique flow-through design, the BraBaby allows water to gently clean your delicates… While it protects them from the agitator and from the weight of the other clothes in the spin cycle. BraBABY™ is dryer safe. So you can baby your bras right from the washer to the dryer! Watch the video!

This is a glow in the dark bra that has been designed by Playtex to mark the 10th anniversary of Playtex MoonWalk. Apparently every year for the New York Marathon a bunch of women walk the marathon in their bras, this has also been repeated in London as well. The moonlit marathon now sees 15,000 walkers take to the street in decorated bras. More information here.

The glow in the dark bra has been designed to mark the 10th birthday of the Playtex MoonWalk, which raises cash for breast cancer charities.

If your height is 5’4”, or less, you are considered petite by industry measuring standards. Petite women that fall in this category are divided into further different types of petites. There are women with long torsos and shorter legs, and most fall into this category. There is also the opposite: long legs and short torso.

With roughly 40% of American women that are petite, and around the same percentage worldwide, the market for petites is huge.

The greatest fashion obstacle for the petite woman is realizing that she is indeed petite. Women usually walk right by the petite department, and then wonder why their clothing never seems to fit properly.

Here are some dressing tips if you are in this category.

For skirts it is recommended to get a skirt that stops around the kneecap, either just above or covering it. If you are comfortable wearing miniskirts then they help in making your legs look longer.

Petite designation is less about size and body shape and more about fit and proportion. The main hurdles with petite fashion seem to be pants as they are the hardest piece of clothing to buy (the crotch is often too low). The selection is usually too old-fashioned for a sophisticated petite consumer. However with the consumer demanding more the choices have expanded to offer better designs and styles. Blouses, sweaters and skirts are the easiest pieces for petites to buy.

A shorter woman can give the illusion that she is taller through strategic dressing tips. Wearing one continuous color from shoulder to hem lengthens the silhouette. If you break that vertical block of color with a wide belt, for instance, the eye stops short making you appear shorter and wider. Accessories like belts can look overwhelming on the petite frame, however an appropriate size scarf or earrings will draw the eye up, focusing attention on the face.

Keep prints in proportion to your figure. In general, prints should be no larger than your hand.

The trick is to achieve the proper fit and proportion and to maximize appearance by paying attention to the elements of line and balance in all outfits.

The new tradition of H&M is to put out a collection every season with a guest designer behind it like Stella McCartney and Viktor & Rolf. But this time they chose the material girl herself, Madonna. The new “M by Madonna” collection was launched across all womenswear H & M stores worldwide and will be sold in 28 countries.

The launch wasn’t as frenzied as people had hoped though with shoppers in New York only queuing up 30 minutes before the stores opened on Fifth Avenue. But within two hours some items, including belts and small purses, had sold out said one sales associate. In the U.K though the demand was more heated and extra security guards had to be called in. Maybe it’s because she lives in the U.K now and the women there probably like her more for that?

The collection itself is mostly black and white with some blue and other earthy tones, retail prices are from $16 to $295.

Madonna has collaborated with H&M before as well when they supplied her and her entourage with an offstage wardrobe
for her “Confessions” tour. Below are the campaign images.

Curvation is a company that makes lingerie for full figured women. Queen Latifah promotes them and now they have launched a Ready-to-Wear line together that is targeted to the plus size and full figure woman.

“I’m really going to try and be a driving force for CURVATION®, because I need clothes that fit me and look good. I’m tired of shopping in the men’s department to find my size. Most women in this country are a size 10 or better…and it’s like, c’mon. We are consumers. We are buying this stuff. Make things for us.”

Curvation lingerie was formed after talking to the countless curvaceous women who said they couldn’t find intimate apparel that was both beautiful and functional.

Now those women can extend themselves further with the new Ready-to-Wear line from Curvation that is all about “approachable glam”. “The line is all kinds of things to make a woman feel sexy,” says Latifah. Her stylist Susan Moses is also the creative director for the line and it features lots of silks, jersey’s and the emphasis is on giving a silhouette to a woman’s body instead of trying to hide it.

You can shop by lifestyle from Approachable Glamour, Power Meeting to Weekend Chic. Categories include Accessories, Outerwear, Pants, Skirts and Tops. Shop Curvation.

Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise…so women don’t need to sleep late or get up early, which means its pajama party time.

Sleepwear is a critical piece of clothing to consider for the time that you are sleeping 6 – 8 hours a day you must feel comfortable.

So what’s the best thing to sleep in? Simple whatever makes you feel the most comfortable. Many women prefer to sleep just in a small slip or maybe even just their underwear. Some women prefer the traditional pajama set, which too can come in a variety of styles, and some well…let’s not go there.

There are short cami length tops, with shorts. The longer slip variety with long or extra short bottoms, and then the top with sleeves (cap or half) and full-length pajamas. The truth is that most women even prefer to just wear a XL t-shirt in cotton, which will probably provide the most comfort as there would be a lot of space. Since your position in sleep changes every few hours, it seems the most practical.

You can also choose the type of prints for pajamas nowadays and get something that reflects your personality. Tweety bird seems to be a favorite!

Of course if you a romantic evening planned then nothing beats a soft silk pajama to end the night with.

Mickey Sills is a self taught fashion designer and he’s all about Pajama’s and he believes that women should have fun in their PJ’s all the time. Scanty PJ is his brand and his line is influenced by California culture and pop art. The main difference with his PJ’s and other PJ lines are the prints. Some of them are good enough to wear out on the town. With some of the tops you just need a pair of jeans and you’re ready to go. Have a look at the video below

Bruno Grizzo is a native of Brazil and received his diploma in Fashion Design from the Columbus College of Art and Design, in Columbus, Ohio.

He moved to Paris to work for Lanvin and Jose Levy. In 1998 he apprenticed at the atelier of Frank Tignino in New York.

You know there is a reason that you have that yearly subscription to Sports Illustrated and never forget to mail out the check or charge it on your credit card. Well that reason is coming up again this Valentine’s Day again, of course I was talking to the women who want to see what the latest bathing suits are.

From Heidi Klum, Ana Beatriz Barros, tennis star Maria Shaparova, Molly Sims and other past issue cover girls like Carolyn Murphy will be in the issue. You can download exclusive cell phone wallpapers from SI Mobile, once the issue goes into print, where over 50 supermodels are featured on the site as of now at a $1.99 each – the wallpapers are available for all major wireless carriers.

Their SI swimsuit issue is probably the most waited for magazine publication in the world. There is a lot of pressure on the photographers and the models to do their creative best. Swimsuit designers who are selected to have their swimsuits worn are very lucky if they get picked, as it has been known to boost careers and sales as well as make the designer a household name literally overnight. Do you remember the painted on swimsuits they wore, well not really but you get the picture, a few years back created quite a controversy. Expect no less this year.

The site also has wallpapers and calendars for sale.

Katie’s inspiration for Spring came from Brigitte Bardot and her time in St. Tropez where she filmed the 1956 movie “And God Created Women” for her attitude and being outspoken. If you are the last girl to leave the dance floor then her dresses are for you.

For a full interview have a look at this video below for a preview of her collection.

Fact: Her mother handmakes all the tags for the dresses.

Model daniela cicarelli has sued youtube for hosting her sensuous beach escapade. She was spending her day at the beach with her special someone, and someone filmed them secretly and caught them in the act as they were in shallow waters.

A brazilian court has ordered youtube to be shut down (like that’s going to happen) until it removes the video. Cicarelli and her now boyfriend Tato Malzoni filed the suit and demanded $116,000 in damages for each day the video remains up.

The case has been dragging on for months now and they filed another suit in December.

The thing is now that video is probably the most viewed video on youtube, it has also reported to be seen on google video and a host of other sites. Not to mention that some people have already downloaded it to their hard drives and will probably keep posting it up as they get taken down.

I think she would have just served herself better by keeping her mouth shut about it rather than make a complete debacle of this. It could also be that maybe she was looking for some attention and needed a boost in her career these kinds of things have been known to happen as celebrities see their stars falling or interest waning. Recently britney spears is such a case.

Story from reuters.

Fortune Denim is a new denim line that is less than 3 months old but already they already have ‘behind’ them stars like Jennifer Aniston, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and others.

When Karen Noseff cracked open a cookie at one fateful dinner not long ago, the fortune might have well read “forget about a career in law; start designing jeans and happiness and success will be yours.” Because that’s exactly what she decided to do, and Fortune Denim, a new line of premium denim that combines the best of Southern California denim’s fit and wash with Eastern design details, was born.

Fortune Denim embodies the clean and simple lines of flattering Western-made jeans with unique Eastern details waiting to be discovered. The overall feel is pure luxury with its satin waistband, including a personal fortune, and satin pockets. Their main styles that are available now are called Beijing Belle, Honk Kong Hipster and Shanghai Star.

Have a look at this commercial for them – (p.s – turn up the volume)

Each is lined with rich satin trim in the style of the ancient Tang Dynasty hand-sewn into the interior waistband and pockets in one of four distinctive colors- red, purple, blue and silver. The stitching is done with eye catching metallic thread in edgy color combinations and unique designs. The classic “F” pocket is designed to lift, flatter and transform and comes in an assortment of candy-coated colors using special zigzag stitching. Each pair of Fortune Denim is adorned with a button hand-set with 24 delicate Swarovski crystals made to resemble an ancient Chinese coin, and is coated with a special glaze to keep each crystal in place through repeated washings.

And the most captivating accent is the personal fortune, unique for each pair of jeans, stitched into the interior waistband to bring good luck to all who wear them.
